"More things are caught than taught"
I don't recall being brought into the kitchen to learn exactly how to cook, but I quickly remembered what I caught from my mother and grandmother after I burned my first batch of chicken.
I studied philosophy, psychology and indulged in master teachers to be a great student of meditation, but it wasnāt until I caught the art of mindfulnessās that I learned how to meditate.
Someone is always learning from you even if your intention isnāt to teach. Children will most likely follow in our foot steps based on our walk in life, not our talk about it.
What are you putting down that others are picking up? What emotions, attitudes, characteristics and flaws did you pick up from family? Friends? The work place? Do you even know if itās your personality trait anymore?
How are you managing the new you when others have known the old you much longer? Are you graceful? Are you patient? Are you understanding?
What have you taught others that you wish they didnāt catch? What are you willing to learn in order to be a better you?
As always, Iām doing the hard work with you. This week is no different. Iām choosing this week to be more mindful about what Iām teaching and catching. Iām unpacking some stuff that others unknowingly put into my bag. That shit donāt belong to me. Never didā¦but I caught it!!! I wore it. I bathed in it. I slept with it and God bless America because I too often woke up with it. Geeesh!!!! š¤¦š¾āāļø
We all have caught something that others taught us inadvertently. I too am learning how to catch whatās best for me...and Iām intentionally tossing out whatās not mine. In the process, Iām learning the difference.
